1. Who we are
VECOS is a platform for creating, sharing and visiting shared 3D worlds. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
If you have a question about anything here, contact us at the address in section 10.
2. What we collect
We collect three kinds of information.
Information you give us. This is the information you type in:
- your email address and password, so that you can sign in;
- your display name and profile picture, which other people see;
- the worlds, models, images, videos, documents and quizzes you upload or create;
- anything you write in chat or in a quiz answer.
Information we collect because you used the service. This is produced by using it rather than typed in:
- which worlds you visited and when;
- the device platform you connected from and your approximate location, derived from your IP address;
- technical logs, including your IP address, that we keep to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.
Information from services you connect. If you sign in with a third-party account, we receive the identifier and email address that service gives us. We do not receive your password.
3. Why we use it
We use your information to:
- give you an account and let you sign in to it;
- show your worlds, your uploads and your profile to the people you have chosen to show them to;
- keep the service working, including diagnosing faults and preventing abuse;
- tell you about things that happen in your account, such as an invitation or a friend request;
- meet legal obligations, including keeping a record of your agreement to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use what you upload to advertise to you.
4. Voice and live sessions
Voice in a world is carried live between participants. We do not record it and we do not store it. Text chat inside a world is stored, for a limited period, so that a moderator can review a report about it.
5. Who else sees it
Your display name, profile picture and public worlds are visible to other people using the platform. Beyond that, we share information only with:
- the service providers who run our infrastructure, under contract and only to run it for us;
- an authority, where the law requires it and after checking that it does.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete the personal information associated with it, except where we are required to keep a record — the record of your agreement to this policy is one such case.
In-world chat is kept for a limited retention period and then removed automatically.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your account and the information with it;
- object to particular uses of your information;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
You can exercise most of these from your account settings. For the rest, contact us.
8. Children
The platform is not intended for children under the age at which they can consent to an online service where they live. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we publish a new version with a date, and the previous versions remain on record. If a change is material, we will ask you to agree to it again before you carry on using the platform — a correction of a typo or a broken link will not interrupt you.
10. Contact
Write to us at the address published on our website. We will answer within the time our local law allows.
